The Ethicon 2472480 is a sterile surgical suture featuring Ethilon™, a high-strength, nonabsorbable monofilament nylon suture known for its excellent tensile strength and smooth passage through tissue. This size 4-0 suture measures 30 inches (76 cm) in length and is dyed black to enhance visibility during procedures, especially in dark or bloody fields.

Pre-attached to a P-3 (3/8 circle) precision reverse-cutting needle, this suture is ideal for ophthalmic surgery, skin closure, and other soft tissue approximation where secure, long-term wound support is required. The reverse-cutting geometry of the needle allows for clean penetration in tough or delicate tissues with reduced drag.

As a monofilament suture, Ethilon produces a minimal acute inflammatory response and resists bacterial colonization. It maintains strength indefinitely in most tissues, with extremely slow degradation occurring over 1 to 2 years — making it suitable for applications requiring permanent tensile support.
