How it works:
Afrin Original Spray works by shrinking the blood vessels in your nose, which helps to reduce congestion and swelling.
Dosage and administration:
- Adults and children 12 years and older: 2-3 sprays per nostril every 12 hours. Do not use more than 2 doses in any 24-hour period.
- Children under 12 years: Do not use.
Warnings and precautions:
- Do not use:
- If you have recently had nose surgery
- If you are taking an MAOI inhibitor (medication for depression or Parkinson’s disease)
- If you have heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid problems, or diabetes
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Stop use and talk to your doctor if:
- You experience severe or persistent burning, stinging, or irritation in your nose
- You get severe headache, dizziness, or sleep problems
- Your nasal congestion gets worse or does not improve after 3 days of use
- Other warnings:
- Do not use for more than 3 consecutive days.
- Do not share this medication with others.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- This medication may cause drowsiness. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or doing other activities that require alertness until you know how it affects you.
