3M 1262P Attest Biological Indicators monitor the effectiveness of steam sterilization processes, delivering results within 48 hours. The self-contained BI includes a Geobacillus stearothermophilus spore strip, a sealed glass ampule with growth medium, and a bromocresol purple pH indicator system. It features a brown color-coded cap with holes for sterilant penetration, a filter acting as a barrier, and a process indicator on the label that changes from rose to brown when processed. Post-sterilization, the vial is crushed to mix the growth media with the processed spore strip, and the BI is incubated for 48 hours for a visual readout. A color change to yellow indicates surviving spores, signaling a positive result.
