Baxter Potassium Chloride 20 mEq/L in 0.45% Sodium Chloride Injection USP is a sterile, nonpyrogenic intravenous solution designed for fluid and electrolyte replenishment in adult and pediatric patients. This balanced formulation combines 0.45% sodium chloride (half-normal saline) with 20 mEq/L of potassium chloride to help correct or prevent hypokalemia while providing moderate sodium and hydration support. Osmolarity is 194 mOsmol/L (calculated), making it a hypo- to isotonic solution suitable for cautious administration in a variety of clinical settings. Contains no antimicrobial agents and is intended for single-dose use. Packaged in a VIAFLEX® plastic container — made from PL 146 Plastic (a polyvinyl chloride formulation) — which is durable, transparent, and compatible with standard IV administration sets. The container may contain trace amounts of DEHP (< 5 ppm) but has been tested and confirmed safe per USP biological standards and tissue culture toxicity requirements. Not recommended for neonatal use where DEHP exposure is a concern. Administer with caution in patients on corticosteroids, diuretics, antiepileptics, or psychotropic medications due to risks of fluid retention or hyponatremia. Ideal for use in hospital wards, emergency departments, and perioperative care. Each bag contains 1000 mL. Packaged 12 units per case.
