The COVIDIEN Shiley Laryngectomy Tube 6LGT is a tracheostomy tube designed for patients who have undergone a laryngectomy, a surgical procedure to remove the larynx (voice box). The tube is made of soft, flexible silicone and has a fenestration (hole) in the neck flange to allow for speaking.
The tube also has a speaking valve that can be attached to allow the patient to speak without occluding the stoma (opening in the neck).
