OVERVIEW
Same Trusted Brand, More Advanced Design
Shiley™ tracheostomy tubes have a proven 40-year history with over 760 million products used around the world.
These clinician-inspired enhancements include the taper-shaped TaperGuard™ cuff. The TaperGuard™ cuff may help protect the lungs and reduce tracheal impact by reducing fluid leakage by 99% and exerting 18.6% less lateral wall pressure on the trachea.1 In addition, TaperGuard™ cuff technology helps improve a clinician’s ability to provide mechanical ventilation with the ability to titrate ventilator air leak that is 65% greater than with earlier-generation Shiley™ tubes.2
Shiley™ flexible tubes were designed with larger inner diameters, compared to earlier Shiley™ tracheostomy tubes. Airflow around the outer cannula when the cuff is deflated has increased by an average of 242%.2 It has been found that improved airflow may reduce the work of breathing required to speak and wean from a tracheostomy tube.5
Other enhancements in the new family of Shiley™ flexible tracheostomy tubes include color-coding by size (for disposable inner cannula products only), an expanded range of sizes, a soft material made with a non-DEHP plasticizer, a clear flange and a design that make it possible to ventilate with or without an inner cannula.
Discover the Benefits of Shiley Cuffless Tracheostomy Tubes
For more than 40 years, clinicians have counted on Shiley tracheostomy tubes to facilitate positive outcomes across the patient-care continuum. Today, the new generation of Shiley Flexible adult tracheostomy tubes builds on the brand’s heritage of quality and reliability with a range of product advances designed to enhance patient safety and simplify patient care.
Shiley™ flexible tracheostomy tubes prioritize three essential aspects: patient well-being, patient comfort, and clinical ease.
Patient Well-being: Utilizing gentle materials and an extended selection of sizes.
Patient Comfort: Ensuring a superior seal with the TaperGuard™ cuff.
Clinical Ease: Facilitating convenience through size-based color coding (applicable to disposable inner cannula products only) and providing a transparent flange for improved visibility of the stoma site.
Easier Insertion and Removal
- A thinner, less bulky cuff reduces insertion force by 39%.
- A beveled tip on all product configurations eases percutaneous insertion
10UN10H Fits Shiley Flexible Disposable Inner Cannula (DIC) > 10IC10
May Enhance Fit and Comfort
- The outer cannula is flexible enough to conform to the patient’s airway, but rigid enough to maintain airway patency.
- The tubes use sizing (I.D., O.D., length and tube curvature) that is essentially equivalent with that used in earlier Shiley products.
- Additional sizes have been added to improve patient fit when needed.
